Baldur's Gate 3 (BG3): Kill or Let Go Kill Monster Hunter Gandrel?

Killing or letting go of the Hunter will significantly affect your BG3 gameplay. Don’t worry; we will ease up this dilemma in this guide.

Experience an epic adventure of Dungeons and Dragons in Baldur’s Gate 3. As a C-RPG, you can choose any character to play and customize it to your liking. Also, there will be quests and missions to complete in BG3. Players must gather resources and weapons and even fight alongside the team against powerful enemies and parasites.

Not only are fighting and exploring tasks for you in BG3, but there will also be times when you will have to make choices to complete a quest. For example, for the Pale Elf quest, players may meet Gandrel, a Monster hunter who is on the search for the vampire Astarion. Now, you decide whether to kill Gandrel before he finds Astarion or let the Hunter go. Each decision will result in a different ending.

Kill or Let Go of Monster Hunter Gandrel?

Before the choices appear on your screen, you must connect with Gandrel and see what he really wants. Talk to Gandrel and do the Intimidation/Persuasion Check. If the check succeeds, he will eventually tell you about Astarion, the Vampire he is trying to find.

Once the players have learned what Gandrel has in mind, 3 options will appear on the screen;

  • Kill Gandrel
  • Tell Gandrel about Astarion’s location
  • Warn Astarion

If you choose to Kill Gandrel, competitive combat will occur on the spot. Fight Gandrel with all your might; if you win, the CrossBow will be your reward. On top of that, Astarion will remain in your party and stay loyal to saving his life.

But if you choose the second option, Tell Gandrel about Astarion’s location, then Astarion will vanish from your team, and other members will not believe or trust you anymore.

And for the third option, Warn Astarion, the team members and Astarion will learn about the Hunter and stay cautious about Gandrel’s whereabouts.

Choosing any of the options will result in different situations. But killing Gandrel when possible is recommended, as he can be dangerous for your Vampire member, Astarion. And Astarion is a precious team player to have to go through the BG3 gameplay smoothly.
