The festive period is in full swing across the globe. As the world celebrates Christmas, people can be seen roaming outdoors and spending time with their loved ones. During this festivities, an unexpected crossover took place as New York Giants quarterback Tommy DeVito crossed paths with New York Yankees captain Aaron Judge. The baseball star’ act has now left the football player awestruck.
Devito ran into Judge at a restaurant in New York City. While Judge is regarded as one of the modern-day greats, DeVito is still climbing the ladder of success. The Giants QB was certain that the baseball slugger had no idea who he was. To his surprise, Judge not only knew who he was, he was happy to come across him and paid for his dinner bill.
Devito is labeled as a cult hero in his New Jersey native. He grew up as a Yankee fan and was thus starstruck to see Judge in the restaurant. In a recent interview with Fox Sports, the rising football star informed how he waited till the end to introduce himself.
I went out to dinner in the city, and at the table next to me was Aaron Judge. I saw him out of the corner of my eye but I didn’t want to go say ‘Hello’ yet, so I waited for the end of dinner. I went to go pay, and the waiter had come over and said Aaron tried to pay for your tab. And then I was like, ‘This guy knows who I am?'Tommy DeVito on coming across Aaron Judge through Fox Sports.
In the realm of sports, two stars crossing each other’s paths are normal. The NFL and the MLB have seen several crossovers over the years. One recent incident saw Shohei Ohtani attending a Thursday Night Football game between the Los Angeles Rams and New Orleans Saints. This crossover of Tommy DeVito and Aaron Judge underscores how two sporting stars can unexpectedly come together.
The year 2023 has seen lots of ups and downs for these two athletes. They have enjoyed both success and failures while trying to help out their respective teams.
DeVito signed with the New York Giants in April 2023 as an undrafted free agent. He was then put on waivers by the team in August. However, he was later re-signed to the practice squad. He made his NFL debut against their city rivals, the New York Jets, and was signed into the roster in October. Since then, he has become a local hero.
Whereas, Judge came into the season as the reigning American League MVP following a historic season. He got injured in April and then again in June which sidelined him for several weeks. His absence on the field was clearly felt as the Yankees struggled offensively with their captain. Judge would later return to the squad and finish the season in high spirits with 37 home runs and 75 RBIs.
The Giants right now are on the brink of elimination from the playoff race. Despite DeVito shining in the past few weeks, the team just like the Yankees have struggled throughout and are now hoping to close out the season with some positive results.
