After years of hard work and self reflection, emerging pop artist Juliana Tucker is finally letting the world in on some of her personal life moments to date with the release of her debut EP The Great Indoors.
Released today (March 3) on all streaming platforms, the LA-based singer/songwriter beautifully showcases her out-of-this-world vocal range and strong songwriting ability with a six song independent collection that digs deep into raw and honest emotions, along with what it means to know oneself through the lens of all relationships from romance to friendship.
“I wrote these songs for a reason. [‘The Great Indoors’] is about my life and what I’m going through in this exact moment, so it means something to me,” Juliana tells Celeb Secrets reporter Juliet Schroder in an exclusive interview.
“I want a lot of people to hear it and I want it to do really well, but at the same time I needed to do this for myself. It gives me comfort knowing that it was meant to happen and I hope it resonates with people because that’s obviously why I do what I do.”
Featuring previously released singles “Let Me Let Loose,” “Bad Friends,” “Breakup High” “The Great Indoors” and “Alone But Not Lonely,” Tucker tells Celeb Secrets that each song is personal to her as they are about people (and things) that have happened over the course of her life.
“Every song was written about someone specifically,” she says. “‘Bad Friends’ and ‘Fair Warning’ were written about someone specifically that is in my life. There are low key secrets in there — all good things — but very personal.”
Additionally, people will get to hear a never-before-released track “Fair Warning,” which Juliana says is all about “rebounding with someone after ending a relationship and being emotionally unavailable.” Accompanied by a music video out today (March 3), the song is meant to be lighthearted but powerful to remind people that women can have rebounds too.
“If you’ve ever heard the phrase ‘get over them by getting under someone else,’ then this song is for you,” Tucker says.
When choosing the title for her debut EP, Juliana knew it was a no-brainer to name it after her song “The Great Indoors,” as she says it’s the first song she’s ever made that made her cry when listening to it.
“It took a while for my team and I to kind of come up with this concept because I actually had every single song already written and produced on the EP before I wrote ‘The Great Indoors,’ she shares. “It kind of had this overarching story of my life and growing up and learning about myself and it just felt like something was really missing on the EP. So I was like, ‘I need something to really tie in everything that these other songs mean to me.’ And that’s kind of how ‘The Great Indoors’ got started.”
“I tried really hard to, to understand what I wanted to write before I sat down and wrote it so that when I did sit down, it took me no time. It was the only song I’ve ever written where I actually cried when I heard it, which is like, it felt very interesting and therapeutic for me. That doesn’t normally happen so it means a lot for me,” she added.
Up next, Juliana hopes to bring her personal collection out on the road for even more people to hear and relate to, along with working on more material with plans to be released later throughout the year.
