Minecraft has a wide variety of hostile mobs but today we take a look at the poster child of the game! This is none other than the Minecraft Creeper, which is a unique mob only found in this game and likes to go in with a Bang!

Minecraft mobs can be differentiate very well based on their behaviour towards the player. Some mobs are peacefully passive, which some may retaliate to an attack and are neutral until then. However, the most dangerous are definitely the hostile mobs which will attack on sight or if players go in their range. Among them the Creeper is one of the most feared and for valid reasons.

Here are all the facts for the Minecraft Creeper!

Minecraft Creeper

The Minecraft Creeper is a commonly spawning hostile mob that silently approaches the players and explodes when near. Due to their noiseless movement and sudden surprise blasts, they have become one of the selling points for the game!

They have a green slender long body that can often camouflage in many grassy and jungle biomes and are very destructive. The explosions will damage as well as destroy nearby structures.

Spawns

They will spawn anywhere and everywhere in the Overworld with a light level of less than 7. Therefore, they are very common and easily found.

Behaviour

Creepers are hostile towards any players within a 16 block radius. They do not attack any other mob in the game. When they reach within 3 blocks pf the player they start to charge up flashing white like a TNT. After 1.5 seconds they explode hurting players near them and destroying blocks near them.

However, a Creeper can only detect players that it can see. The mob is especially dangerous because it has no step sound and can creep up behind you without making any sound! But, they emit a hissing sound when starting to detonate.

They are deadly afraid of cats and ocelots and run away if players are near them.

The Normal variant has a explosion damage of 64 health points if close in Hard mode, which is an instant kill.

Charged Creepers

Charged Creepers are a variant of the normal Creeper which is surrounded by a Blue Aura and has a high blast radius and damage. They are only spawned when a lightning strikes the Creeper.

On Hard Mode and at the closest proximity, a blast from the Charged Creeper does 127 health point damage.

Drops

Creepers drops the following when killed by the player:

  • 5 EXP orbs
  • 0-2 gunpowder

If a Creeper is killed by a Skeleton or Stray, they drop a Music Disc, which is the only source to get them apart from treasure loot.

If any mob including a Creeper is killed by a Charged Creeper, then they drop a Mob head.
