Mount Hood ski resorts closed Tuesday after snow storm, Highway 26 closure

Monday’s winter blast forced ski resorts to shut down some of their lifts on Tuesday.

Mount Hood Meadows, Ski Bowl, and Timberline announced they are all closed because of the closure on Highway 26 from Rhododendron to Warm Springs.

On Monday, Meadows stayed open until 4 p.m. during the snow storm.

Spokesperson Dave Tragethon has been at the resort for 27 seasons and ranked Monday’s storm as the top 3 he’s experienced because of how much snow is falling.

“The main thing about driving on these types of roads in the winter is first, be prepared for it. Make sure you got your snow tires, your chains. Give yourself extra time, don’t race everyone to be first in our parking lot,” Tragethon said.

If you plan to drive up to Mount Hood, make sure to have a safety kit, extra supplies, and a shovel.
