Following the shocking allegations against him, Tampa Bay Rays star shortstop Wander Franco‘s home was raided by the Dominican authorities. As per reports he was missing from the home and the officials were unable to locate him.
According to Spanish outlet Listin Diario, the MLB All-Star was nowhere to be found in his and his mother’s home on Tuesday. The neighbors claimed that the officials left some messages with Franco’s wife.
Franco has been out of action since August after shocking allegations were placed upon him. The baseball star has been under administrative leave since allegations of a relationship with a minor surfaced against him.
The 22-year-old had been on the rise in recent years and had become an important member of the team. In 2021, the Rays went all-out and finalized a mega 11-year, $182 million deal with him.
At the start of August, the Tampa Bay Rays were fighting out for the division title against the Baltimore Orioles. They were hoping their big stars including Wander Franco would come up clutch and play a crucial part in the upcoming months. The team then received a major shock when serious allegations were labeled against Franco.
The 2023 MLB All-Star was alleged to be involved in a relationship with a minor after a social media post went viral. Since then he has found himself on the restricted list. With him nowhere to be found at the moment, many are wondering whether this is the end of his MLB career.
Franco made his debut with the Tampa Bay Rays in 2021. He slowly started to make himself a regular starting player and impressed the fans with his performances. Later that year, the Rays went on to give him a huge contract extension. By signing the deal he became the youngest player in MLB, surpassing Ronald Acuna Jr. to sign a contract over $100 million.
Following this allegation against him, the MLB star denied all of them while appearing live on Instagram. In the video, Franco spoke in Spanish and claimed people do not know what to do with their time and that they do not know what they are talking about.
